About
I have always had an interest in helping others find solutions. I intuitively approached a problem by fact-finding and inquiring about the person’s interests to help me understand a difficult matter. I later learned through my studies in Conflict Resolution that this was a logical and reasonable approach to work through a problem.
Based on my academic background in Conflict Resolution, I further learned how conducting extensive research on issues and topics would allow me to draw out a deeper awareness or perspective that I might not have considered previously. From there, we are better equipped to apply problem-solving techniques to collaboratively decide how to resolve challenging issues and select options to prevent future incidences from re-occurring.
The knowledge I gained from my coursework in political science and conflict studies, raised my awareness that the needs of individuals is a priority. We must also give equal attention to appreciate the complexity of the problem. This enables us to develop diverse perspectives which we can communicate to those affected in the hope that we will settle a complicated matter.
The field of Conflict Resolution extends and intersects with multiple disciplines. My interests include Environmental Security, regarding our responsibility to protect the environment, human health, and security from threats caused by natural and human events. I am keenly interested in the adverse impacts that conflicts have on food sources, and the importance of taking proactive steps and implementing action plans to mitigate or eliminate risks. The Fashion and Textile industry is another area of interest of mine in respect of how the production of garments can have negative impacts on community environments by damaging precious food and water resources, thus affecting the quality of life of people who live in those communities.
Given my passion for preventive action, I created this blog to continue my research practice and to allow me an opportunity to learn, grow, and evolve through experiences, shared exchanges and relationships.
